Ted Holmes 1962
Founding president, and coach. Was a player and committee member until his death in 1965. Represented NSW and the ACT from 1946 to 1956. ​

Graham Walker 1972
Founding member, played first grade for twenty two years, President (1), Secretary (1) and Treasurer (7) in the first fifteen years. Played down the grades for another ten odd years, coached junior teams, toured with first junior tour in 1973. Represented Australia (U18) New South Wales U21 and seniors and ACT over all ages. Brophy Medal winner. Official and member of men and boys committees over many years.

Ray Brown. 1974
Joined the Club in 1962 from Goulburn Colts where he was the founding secretary/treasurer. Was the catalyst and prime mover in the rise of the boys’ section of the Club. Nurtured and supervised the rise to twelve teams in five years. Club person of the year on two occasions. President nine years, Junior chairman ten years, coach of boys’ and girls’ Minkey teams many times, Patron eleven years, from 1966 has always been an official of the Club, however, sometimes only as auditor! Is a Life Member of ACT Junior Hockey Association, ACT Hockey Association, and The Hockey Centre Inc. Has never been off the Official list of a Hockey Association in Canberra since 1966. A member of The Hockey Centre since inception and one of the instigators of the facilities at the National Hockey Centre. The Indoor Stadium has been named the R.J. Brown Stadium for his commitment.

Errol Bill 1975
Joined the Club 1964. Player for thirty-three years. 1st grade coach men – 3 years, President, Treasurer, Men Committees, Selector – all Grades, Club Coach, 1st grade women’s coach – 3 years. Selector – all grades (women), Assistant Coach women’s 1st grade, Coach women’s lower grades, Coach/Selector junior boys U8, U10, U12, U14.Representative Honours: 1955-60 NSW, 1960 Rome Olympic Games, 1964-73 ACT Seniors, 1982-95 ACT Veterans (40s, 50s, 55s), 1982-83 Australian Masters over 40s, 1991 Australian Senior Masters over 50s – Captain, 1995 Australian Senior Masters over 55s – Captain. Brophy Medal Winner, Life Member ACT Veterans, Clubman of the Year, Level 2 Coach, Testimonial Dinner 1997.

Ted Norton 1976
Founding member, played as the first grade goalie for fourteen years, coached junior and women’s teams over many years and was instrumental in forming the women’s section of the Club. Official of 1973 junior tour, member of men, women and social committees. Was an active member for twenty-five years.

Pat Bill 1977
Member of our first women’s A grade team, Club Coach, Club Captain, 1st grade women’s coach, Selector all grades, Club Secretary, President Women’s Committee, Publicity Officer, Coach/Manager boys U8, U10s, U12, Coach Primary girls, Manager 2nd grade women’s. Coach ACT U18 (4 years), selector ACT seniors, U21s, U18s, U16s, Manager Seniors (3 years), Manager U16s (3 years), President ACTWHA (2 years), V/Pres ACTWHA (2 years), Secretary ACTWHA (10 years), Competition Secretary, Umpiring Director, Coaching Director, Constitution Director, Life Member ACTWHA, Central Clubperson of the Year, Level 3 Umpire (Australian umpire), Level 2 Umpire/Coach, Level 2 Technical Official, Level 1 coach.

Eva Bros 1978
Member of our first women’s A grade team, Chair person, secretary, treasurer of women’s committee, coach lower grade and junior teams, social club committee members, umpire coordinator. Representative on ACT Women's Hockey Association.

Mike McDermid 1979
Joined the Club in 1971 and was boys secretary for four years, president of the Club for three years, president of the women’s committee, coach junior teams boys and girls. Representative on girls’ and women’s associations. Was the instigator of the girls’ June long weekend tournament which bears his name.

John O’Brien 1984
Came to the Club in 1971 from Goulburn and immediately became involved. President three years, chairman boys for numerous years, coach of boys’, girls’, men’s, and women’s teams. Club Person Award. Official on our first junior tour and three subsequent tours, actively involved in associations committees and representative teams.

Michael Page 1995
A player in our first under ten team in 1966. Mike has played with the Club for thirty nine years, he was a regular coach of boys teams for twenty years and had great success with our under-fifteen boys teams over these years. A member of the men’s and boys’ committees in all facets. Represented ACT in all age division and seniors. Member ACTHA Council.

Richard Black 2000
Joined the Club in 1969 as a seventeen year old, and has played almost continuously since. Treasurer for five years and a member of mens’, women’s, boys’ and girls’ committees. Coached in all sections of the Club and was one of the driving forces in the recovery of the women’s section after the 1980 walkout.

Peter Tozer 2001
Joined the club in 1982 as a coach for lower grade women’s team and commenced to play in 1983 as a goal keeper and has played all but continuously since. Has filled committee positions for sections and the General Committee over the years including Club President four years. Became a badged umpire in 1994.Club Person in 1984.

Catherine Dooley 2002
Catherine joined the Club when she moved from Crookwell in 1972 and has played continuously since. She has been a junior coach, president of the women’s committee as well as other positions for many many years has been an association representative team coach and manager a number of times. She has Captained her senior team and been a member of many competition in her forty two years with the Club. Club Person 2005 and Most Consentaneous Women Member for numerous years.

Charles Dooley 2003
Charles moved to Canberra from Crookwell in 1972 and was the most prolific goal scorer the club has had for the years he played. When he finished playing he started coaching and has only a couple of short breaks since... He coached our girls under 18 with great results for many years and when he was not coaching them he was coaching a Womens team, Club Person in 1989. Charles was one of our members that helped resurrection of the Womens side of our club after the 1980 walkout.

Bruce Howson 2005
Bruce joined the Club as a junior in 1973 and played for twenty three years. He started coaching teams from 1983 and this continued for the greater number of years until 2008, over this period he was a member of different Club and Association committees.

Steve O’Connor 2006
The O’Connor family have been dedicated to the welfare and succe ss of Central Hockey Club fifty years but Steve has been awarded his Life Membership for his enormous contribution. Played first in 1979 to 1981 and then from 1989 onwards. He represented the ACT in all age levels and seniors. In 1996 he commenced work on committees for the club and the association which included a long spell as Club Treasurer. He was awarded a Gold Club Award in sixteen years as a member and is continuing with his dedication.

Kathy Tozer 2010
The ultimate behind the scenes worker. The member you called on to fill those positions when things were not being achieved. The member that on registration days corralled any person who needed directions to the best club. Kathy played first in 1981 and is still available when a player is needed. A regular on committees and particularly social events.

Bryan Hurrell 2011.
Commenced with Central in 1968 when he moved from Goulburn and was that hard running goal scoring striker forced early from playing with injury. He represented NSW and the ACT. Bryan came from a Hockey family with his dad being the doyan of hockey in Goulburn and his uncle George played for Australia. He coached junior sides and was a member on the boys and men.s committees and the general committee where he was president for seven years.

Peter Funnell 2012
Another player from a Goulburn Hockey family joining our club in 1966... He represented NSW and ACT and umpired at state level for many years. He played seventeen years with the club and was first grade captain for seven of those. He has been senior first grade coach for men and women, coached juniors for the boys and in recent years has dedicated himself to the under 18 girl’s team where he has had considerable success. He has also been interregnal to our social nights as organiser and MC.

John Angley 2013
The club public officer for many, many years has played continuously for 36 years a member of the executive, general, and men’s committees. He has filled the men’s club captain position and has been the member to go to if a player has a problem. John has been called on to fill positions on many occasions when it has been necessary.

Wayne Creaser 2014
Wayne started playing with the club in 1999 and is still playing. He has been team captain and has been a men’s, women’s, boys and girls coach every year since 2003 and quite often more than one in the year. He has been a regular sub-committee member and won the Club Person of the year in 2009.

John Fulton 2015
John started with the club in 1985, following his children into the club. He was involved in the junior boys committees for 5 years before moving on to the general committees for a few years after that. John’s biggest involvement was developing and maintaining (for 29 years) the Central Gold/Silver/Bronze award program. John never played hockey and the majority of the time John was GSB manager his children were no longer involved within the club.

Ray Dorsett 2016
Ray joined our club in 1968 as a fourteen year old, after reading a noticedistributed to Watson High School. He has given in excess of thirty years’ service with our club, including playing up until 1996, before his move to Perth. His coaching record is exceptional. Starting with juniors in 1970 and coaching men’s teams through to 1984 when his talent took him on to HACT teams and on too Australian Hockey. On his return to Canberra, he has been associated and coached women’s/mens teams for Central.

Andrew Brick 2017
Andrew’s family have been dedicated to the welfare and success of Central Hockey Club for sixty odd years and Andrew was awarded his Life Membership for his enormous contribution. Played first in 1976 and then on and off for 29 years. In 1988 he started coaching junior boys and has held a coaching role within the club for 21 years since then. In 2003 he commenced work on committees for the club and has been a committee member for 15 years on and off, which included boy’s, men’s, general committees and Treasurer.​

Lola McKinnon 2018
Lola epitomises the Central Club stalwart who can be relied on to help wherever her skills are needed. Lola joined Central Hockey Club as a player in 1982 and since then she has been a player for 34 years, women and general committee member for 16 years, which included 4 years as treasurer. Social events organiser for 6 years and has now taken control of the GSB database for the last 5 years.​

Tom Weir 2023
Tom started his roles with Central back in 1986 coinciding with his son David and daughter Vanessa starting to play hockey. Tom started taking on the role of club Minkey Hockey Coordinator for 4 years and then continued straight into the Boys’ Coordinator for another 9 years. During all this time Tom played in senior teams, coached junior boys’ and girls’ teams (both indoor and outdoor) as well as some stints as an umpire, on general committees and association committees. Tom also took on the men’s CL1 manager for 4 years. Tom is a true hockey fanatic as this is not Tom’s first life membership with a hockey club. He is also a life member of ANU for work done for that club before his association with Central.

Carla Jago 2024
Carla commenced playing with Central in 2003 continuing through to the current year. Carla joined the women’s executive from 2009 to 2016 including being Women’s Coordinator in 2013 and 2014. Carla was on the General Committee from 2012 to 2019 including serving as Club President from 2015 to 2018. Due to the wise counsel Carla has provided over many years, she was appointed Club patron when Ray Brown stood down in 2019. Carla has continued to provide advice and assistance to Board members on challenging issues. Carla has also been the Club’s Public Officer (a legally required role) from 2016.
